The Museum of 21st Century Design (M21D) examines objects from the museum’s collection from social and environmental perspectives, in collaboration with Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam. Emma worked as curator together with the M21D team on this new show. 

How will the next generation understand the collection preserved in the depot? This question leads museum curators to tell stories about objects from a historical perspective. In the ‘Looking Ahead’ series, we look from the future. The first chapter considers what the collection will look like in 2108. While no one knows exactly what will come, we know that large challenges lie ahead. New relationships between humans, nature, and animals must emerge.
